Hi,

November…the holidays are right around the corner!  At this time
of year, as I get ready to write my holiday cards, I find it fun
to stop and ponder the past year.  I love thinking about all of
the different people that I’ve met, the different types of
events that I’ve had the pleasure to attend and the exciting new
things that I’ve learned.  I’m so fortunate to be immersed in a
field that I love.  I’m truly grateful for the abundance in my
life.  How about you?
What are you grateful for?  Is there a
special person that really makes your life light up?  Or, was
there an activity that you did this year that just made your
heart soar?  See, isn’t it fun to think about this?  I hope you
are inspired by this month’s newsletter and continue this ‘warm
and fuzzy’ feeling of gratitude!

I would like to thank you for being part of my life and for your
interest and participation in my newsletter.
 Since this is my
last newsletter for 2007, I would like to wish you and your
family a wonderfully abundant holiday season.  And, I wish you a
Better Than Ever 2008!

All my best,
Helen

Feature Article: Thank You!

*************************************************************
When you were growing up did you have to write thank you notes
for gifts that you received?  I remember right after Christmas my
mother MAKING me sit down at the dining room table, where she
had thank you cards, a pen, stamps - everything that I needed to
write my thank you notes.  One of the rules in our house was
that if I received cash from a family friend or relative, I
could NOT spend the money until I wrote the thank you note.
Ugh!  I got pretty good at writing those thank you notes.  Boy
was I happy when I got that task done.  Then I was off to figure
out what toys I wanted to buy!

Today, I love to send handwritten thank you notes.  Maybe it’s
because I had so much practice as a kid!  No, it’s really not
that.  To me,
it’s so important to let someone KNOW that I
really and truly appreciate their generosity.

Saying "thank you", whether in a handwritten note, or a hug, or
just in a sincere voice can make a difference to you (the
receiver) and to the giver.
Sometimes, it can even go far
beyond the two of you.  Have you ever noticed when you’re really
grateful, how much better everything seems?  I mean, how can you
be saying a genuine "thank you" to someone and not feel some
lightness and even happiness in your heart?

There are those that believe that gratitude really is the
foundation for making significant changes in a person’s life.
The premise is that
the more you are thankful for the abundance
you already have, the more abundance you will receive
.  Do you
feel there’s any credibility to this?  What experiences have you
had with this concept?  It is kind of a neat idea when you
really stop to think about it.
By simply being grateful, your
life improves.  WOW!

As this holiday season begins, I hope you will join me in
recognizing how powerful those two little words, "thank you",
can be.  And, I hope you
use them often and genuinely to let the
people in your life know how much they are valued and
appreciated.

What's Next for You?

*************************************************************
During this holiday season take the time to sincerely thank those
people who are generous to you.  Please be aware that generosity
doesn’t just refer to the notion of cash.
Generosity can come
in many different forms such as time, love and support.
 As you
thank these special people who share your life, notice how you
feel.  Do you feel less frenzied?  Do you have more energy?  Are
you more connected to these individuals?  Do you feel happier?
Did you want to thank more people as a result of how you felt
after thanking that one person?

It would be such fun to share your experience with our readers.
Please send an e-mail to
mailto:Helen@BetterThanEverCoaching.com
with a brief description and I’ll include it in a future issue of ‘What Could
Be Better’.  Please let me know if you’d like to remain anonymous.

Reader's Corner

Last month’s article on busyness prompted a
great response from
Marianne:

"Your newsletter struck a chord with me. I, too, answer,
when asked how I am, say "busy’" Actually I really
say "
crazed".

I’ve taken a few steps to fix that. I’m a full-time,
self-employed writer/columnist, so things can quickly get
haywire here on Cape Cod and fast.

Like most people, I don’t ‘idle’ well. I am an
accomplishment-oriented yuppie and judge myself by that
stupid yardstick. I’m slowly learning how to spend a day
alone without talking to anyone or filling my day with ‘busy’
stuff, and learning how it isn’t necessary to justify
myself to anyone: family, friends and clients.

I’ve taken a few steps to stomp out what I call that ‘seize
the Day’ mentality.
Instead, I work on not letting the day
‘seize’ me. I don’t set an alarm clock, unless I need to be
somewhere.

I let the phone ring.  I no longer feel compulsive about
always being on.  I have three lines.  Imagine.
Most things
can really wait.
I also take some time to cull through the
possessions that weigh me down and give them to charity, or
toss them on the heap.  Shopping is no longer a hobby,
rather just a necessity.  My goal is to simplify my life
after working in Manhattan for 23 years.

Thanks for your insightful e-letter,
Marianne Paskowski"

Wow, those are some wonderful ways to eliminate the constant
busyness in your day!
Thank you for sharing them with us!
